One servant of God in the Bible that didn’t practice this principle and paid dearly for it was Samson. Samson was so sure of himself that he never thought of raising people and went to every war all alone. The result was that when he was caught, there was no reinforcements. If he had trained five other men like himself, the enemy would not have felt it safe to hold him back.
Even God in all His might, calls Himself the Lord of Hosts! In Genesis 1:26, He said, "let us make man in our image...." In Genesis 11:7, He said, "let us go down...." In Genesis 2:18, He said, "It is not good for the man to be alone...." If God said to be alone is not good then, nothing can be truer than that.
Judges 1:2-7 gives an insight on how a selfless vision bearer should follow the laws of team spirit: Verse 2 - And the LORD said, Judah shall go up: behold, I have delivered the land into his hand. Verse 3 - And Judah said unto Simeon his brother, come up with me into my lot, that we may fight against the Canaanites; and I likewise will go with you into your lot. So Simeon went with him. Verse 4 - And Judah went up; and the LORD delivered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hand: and they slew of them in Bezek ten thousand men. Judah was chosen by God through a clear revelation. Judah's territory was many times larger that Simeon's. Judah had more fighting men. Judah had a clear cut vision. In fact, Judah needed nothing from Simeon. Christianity is a kingdom with a living King. The King says we should work as a team. He said that the church is constituted where two or more are gathered. When Judah followed that rule, he defeated the ancient principality. Verse 5 - And they found Adonibezek in Bezek: and they fought against him, and they slew the Canaanites and the Perizzites. Verse 6 - But Adonibezek fled; and they pursued after him, and caught him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes. Verse 7 - And Adonibezek said, threescore and ten kings, having their thumbs and their great toes cut off, gathered their food under my table: as I have done, so God has requited me. And they brought him to Jerusalem, and there he died. Adonibezek claimed to have killed seventy warlords and rendered them useless.
Was it not possible that they (Judah and Simeon) just went alone? Was it not possible that, like Samson, they felt that they were too anointed to be touched by the devil? But they were wiser - they went as a team. Child of God, go as a team. If your church or ministry is having problem(s), invite another believer to help. You may kill yourself preaching alone.
